DOULTON LAMBETH EGYPTIAN REVIVAL JUG Doulton Lambeth Egyptian revival jug with silver mount as photos The jug is very dark brown with a lighter coloured relief hieroglyph decoration that has traces of gold paint between two lines of chequered frieze. There is a mask under the spout and wings under the bottom of the handle 842 gms 8 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" across base x 6" tip of spout to back of handle x 15 1/2" around top frieze Hallmark to silver mount on rim has : "S&Co" then Lion Passant then "W" in the format for the year letter I believe to be 1896 and an anchor for Birmingham Marked to bottom: Impressed "DOULTON LAMBETH ENGLAND Rd.No" There are two impressed initials possibly "fg" or "fj". Added in ink is a line and two dots "3421" with a mark over the "1" and and arrow pointing downwards under the number Overall good condition with no repairs. Some losses to upper line of top chequered frieze especially to side with handle facing left. Two areas of loss to lower line of top chequered frieze under mask and handle facing right, near this loss one of squares painted green. Two small firing marks to inside top area of spout. See photos
