Bid is for an antique quack medicine bottle : DR. TRUES ELIXIR/ ESTABLISHED 1851/ DR. J.F.TRUE & CO./ AUBURN, MAINE/ WORM EXPELLER/ FAMILY LAXATIVE.Measuring 7-3/4"tall, this large worm expeller is blown in mold with a hand tooled lip, has swirl in the neck, and dates from about 1875-1885. It is aqua in color and has a few entrapped air bubbles as well as a few embedded grains of sand in the glass. This type of medicine was used in the 1800's to rid the body of tapeworms and other intestinal parasites- mostly to calm the fears of worried parents.In excellent condition without any chips or cracks, only some inside haze/residue, otherwise fine.
