On offer is a delightful souvenir of the then just about brand new Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. This little mirror with a metal sculpted replica of the Eiffel Tower attached to its lid has the word “Ascencion” and the date 1890 engraved or etched into its surface which may indicate that the original purchaser actually walked to the top of the tower! The mirror frame looks like tortoise shell, but may well be faux and it is pin-hinged so that the lid slides open to reveal the beveled-edge mirror inside. The mirror is in well-used condition with some silvering losses, but considering its age it’s in great shape. In doing my research I discovered that the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 for the Paris Exposition of 1889-90. This French souvenir has seen more than reflected faces in its lifetime! What a delightful piece for Eiffel Tower collectors! PLEASE NOTE: 1) If you are unwilling or unable to meet the terms as stated in our copy, please do not bid!
