ANTIQUE Elaborate 9ct Warm Buttery Gold Sovereign Holder 23.2g Hallmarked 1910 I have up for auction today an ANTIQUE Elaborate 9ct Warm Buttery Gold Sovereign Holder Weight 23.2g Hallmarked and Dated 1910 *OUTSTANDING BARGAIN* This is an absolutely fabulous and very beautiful HIGH QUALITY Antique Art Nouveau 9ct Warm Buttery Gold Sovereign Holder as you can see by the photos, which can be seen on the left hand side of my written description. This is a stunning and highly collectable antique 9ct Gold Sovereign Holder, which will hold full sovereign coins (approximately 5 or 6 sovereigns could be housed in this case). The casing has the most elaborate and intricate embossed and extremely beautiful Art Nouveau swirly and floral designs, which adorn the whole of the case including the sides. On the top/lid of the case there is a circular cartouche, which is meant for an inscription, however it has NOT been inscribed upon, what a bonus that is!! So you could have this fine antique collectable personalised if you so desire, either for yourself or for someone special. The case is hinged and the hinge is in good order and the lid shuts good and tight. I have described the colour of the gold as ‘Warm Buttery’ because the gold is not as vivid as yellow gold and it is not quite as red as rose gold, so my term of ‘warm buttery colour’ indeed describes what I believe to be the colour of the gold. The inside lid of the case has been clearly hallmarked and dated as follows:- 9ct Gold (Grade 375) the Anchor representing this sovereign holder was assayed in Birmingham and the date letter ‘l’ denoting the year 1910. The Maker’s mark reads as follows:- A.L.D. There is also a number which reads as follows:- 3089 The hallmarks can also be found in several places upon the sovereign holder/case. The spring part in which you would place your full sovereign is in good order and the spring is still good and strong too. Considering this fine antique sovereign holder is a grand old age of 102 years old it is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and looks to have hardly been used!! This piece measures 3.6cm in diameter (not including the loop) and weighs 23.2 grams, which is a fabulous weight.
