Antique English Oak Revolving Bookcase Arts & Crafts This listing is for a beautiful antique English oak revolving bookcase. It is SOLID oak, no veneers, with wonderful quarter sawn or "tiger" oak grain throughout. The craftsmanship is evident in the details, which include dentil crown molding around the top edges and double grooved detail on all the side slats. It functions just as it was designed, with the bookcase freely turning (revolving) around on the base. The base piece is four solid oak legs with a brass plate and steel bearings (for years of turning!) with a steel rod that fits into a collar in the bottom of the bookcase, allowing the bookcase to easily turn. The bookcase measurements: 31 5/8" H x 24 ½" x 24 ½". As you can see in the photos, each side has two shelves, for a total of eight shelves, each being 14" x 6 ¼", with 12 ½" height between upper and lower shelves. The bookshelf has a beautiful dark golden oak finish and it is in very good condition for its age, with less than normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. For disclosure purposes, please note the following, none of which challenge the structural soundness or make a noticeable difference in the visual beauty of this unique piece: One of the lower side slats is missing one of its screws; The oak planks on the top have some slight separation w the panels join (this is only what is frequently found in older pieces, but nothing is warped or disfigured); the top has some slight discoloration in one spot (see photos). Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character. SHIPPING: Professional packaging, shipping and insurance on this item will be $195.00. (Lower 48 states only), due to the substantial size of the bookcase. All my antique furniture is professionally packaged for shipment by UPS, resulting in very little shipping damage in the past, but sometimes creating slightly higher shipping costs on my antiques versus other sellers. I believe it is worth the few extra dollars to get your one-of-a-kind antique delivered safely to your front door!! I will also allow the buyer to arrange for another company to package and ship the bookcase, if desired, and the buyer can pay the shipper directly.
