This auction is for a wonderful antique Etched Mettlach # 1642 Tapestry German Beer Stein with a very nice pewter lid and ball type thumblift. The stein is dated 1893. This excellent Mettlach stein features a colorful tapestry with a etched scene of a Alpine man leaning on a table while drinking from a beer stein. The base has the Incised Mettlach Castle Mark with the words "Mettlach" and "VB". The base is also coded with the mold number " 1642", "93" (date of manufacture), and "ll". This is a 1/2L stein which measures 7" to the tip of the ball. T is also a nice German verse written near the handle. T are no chips, cracks, or hairlines on the stein. Return policy if not as I have described.
