Item - Antique Flow Blue Teapot Description - This beautiful early flow blue pottery teapot was produced by Mellor, Venables & Co. (M.V. & Co. mark - Burslem, England) between 1834 and 1851. The pattern is called "Oriental Birds" and features a Greek Key-like pattern around the edges. The teapot stands 8 1/2" tall from footing to lid finial and is 9 1/2" from handle to spout. The coloring on this teapot is wonderful, and it displays extremely well. The body of the teapot is in fantastic condition. T is a bit of staining along the underside of the spout and t are some tiny chips on the inside rim w the lid rests. No cracks, no scratches, no major chips, and certainly no repairs. The glaze is nice and shiny and the blue is vivid. The lid has one 1/4" chip on it along with another 1/4" chip that has been repaired. T is a tiny nick on the the very tip of one of the side points on the finial. These nicks can definitely be repaired. This is definitely a keeper and one that should be displayed proudly. I have a modest reserve on this teapot simply to protect my investment in it. Good luck and congratulations to the winning bidder on this fine piece of old flow blue!
