~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ ~ more beautiful than imaginable, this textile is an antique French bed cover or perhaps this textile was used as a wall hanging behind a glorious bed ~ ~ this textile is an antique French bed cover or perhaps that dates from the late 1800's or earlier ~ . Very difficult for me to pin down exactly for date, but I would have said c1890 with later alterations , however could be much earlier ~ ~ One of the most elegant textiles I've ever had the privilege of finding ~ the tones have faded with time giving a wonderfully time-touched quality to this textile ~ delicate and breathtaking ~ wonderful neoclassical designs ~ ~ This textile is an extraordinary find ( please see my other textiles for the matching curtains ) . Made from a light weight polished cotton and the stunning design using delicate tones of greens, blues, antique pinks, grey and muted neutral tones. The tone of the ground is a warm cream tone and the slightly glazed surface gives a wonderful, delicate sheen to this textile which catches the light beautifully ~ This textile is trimmed on the side with a very early brown piece dyed cotton . This fabric was dyed using a mordant that has deteriorated the fabric with time. This textile uses both hand stitching and machine stitching. The panel is constructed using a central wide panel and each side has a machine stitched panel added to extend the width. ( please use the zoom feature to view closely ) ~ an extraordinary textile ~ ~ A work of art ~ ( panel 4) MEASUREMENTS : This amazing textile measures approx. : 85 inches long by 75 inches wide ~ CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition. There are some pale age marks on this panel and some tiny holes and a couple of small holes ( smaller than peas) visible when held to the light.
