This is a small simple homemade antique doll with an exquisite German china shoulder head dating from the 1870s. It is made of high quality porcelain with a very smooth flawless finish. Actually, the doll's well painted refined features and the clumsiness of the cotton flannel dress make a touching contrast. Almost all of the back shield is missing, but she still has a neck. I have tried to photograph the outline of the shield under the cloth. The front shield feels ok. The head itself is in perfect condition except for a little paint loss to the hair. The stuffed body may be of a little later date than the head. It is firm with the clothes sewn on and feels nice to hold. Comes from a small village in the north of Sweden.
