Antique German Hand Blown Enameled Glass Pitcher and Glasses 19th CenturyA fun antique German pitcher and five glasses set. Probably for beer, and dating from the mid -late 19th century, Circa 1860-1880. The set is all hand blown, nice quality glass, and hand enameled with different saying in German, and sprinkled with edelweiss flowers. The 'wax seals' are actually enameled and the one on the pitcher translates to 'quench thirst'. The translations I was coming up with for the rest of the set were not very good and quite garbled. One of the glasses translated to "dollar mug worry breaker". One other is something about an empty glass. Two of the glasses have this same writing. Another one says "enjoy life". Another one says "drink came". The pitcher is translating as "every grief vanish as long as the trunk paints magically." I think "Bauber" may be the artist? Perhaps many of the words are no longer used, so the modern online translators are not picking them up? The pitcher is 10" high by approx. 4 3/4" wide, not including the handle. The glasses are 4 3/4" high by 2 3/4" across at the tops. Note: the glasses may be from two different sets though obviously from the same maker, and painted by the same person. The set is in excellent antique condition and guaranteed to be as described.Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
