Very good to excellent condition hickory wooden shafted J.H. Taylor severe offset smooth face putter. I believe this is referred to as a ‘Bent Blade’ putter and they are very hard to find. I believe this is a patented putter. The stamping stating, “ TAYLOR ’S PUTTER” is still quite clear. Taylor ’s signature is also stamped, but this is very rubbed. Golf club dates to the 1890’s era. Very attractive club head. Nice mottled brown/gray patina. No rust or pitting to the metal. No hosel pin is detectable. Wooden shaft is without chips or cracks and almost certainly original. Shaft is stamped, but I can’t make out lettering. Shaft with just the hint of a St. Andrews bend, basically straight. Intact old leather wrap grip over underlisting. Has intact grip whippings. Grip could well be the original and the leather is not dried out. Total club length is 34 ½ inches. Beautiful early putter.
