This is what we think is an infill or gun metal plane made by James Howarth. The cutter is marked in two places. The top one has James Howarth in a half circle with a J in an H plus a symbol (maybe a tree). Then under the half circle t is "warranted cast steel Sheffield." The lower mark on the shorter piece of the cutter has the JH symbol then "James Howarth," then under that is "Sheffield." The cutter is 7 1/2 inches long and 2 1/8 wide. It looks like it has some paint dots on it that should come off. It also has some surface rust. W the screw goes into the top blade it looks like brass. The plane itself is about 9 inches long and 2 1/2 wide. The center brass piece moves like it's supposed to. The brass screw is a little bent. I don't know what kind of wood the plane is, and it has some scratches and dings from use and some paint spots on top of the handle. Inside the front wood handle down towards the bottom, it is stamped with G. Hall. All 10 screws are t in the metal and it has some surface rust. Overall we think it's in pretty good shape if it's as old as we think it is. We don't know much about James Howarth so look at the pictures and if you need any infomation or have any questions, please e-mail us. THANKS!
