are a pair of ivory figures that are each signed by the artist - I acquired these pieces by inheritance and was told that these were made at the turn of century late 1800s early 1900s. They are both so intricate and detailed . They appear to be a Japanese older couple in traditional dress and both hold bamboo brooms - I do not know what this signifies - The man holds a fan and appears to have horns on his head - or maybe this is a hair style? T is only one flaw - As seen in last photo with red arrows - t are a couple of chips in the back bottom of the womans kimono - and looking under it at the bottom it appears to have been fixed (glued back on) - Otherwise NO chips - NO cracks - NO shrinkage - ** NOTE** SOMEBODY WROTE TO TELL ME WHAT THESE ARE : " They are actors in the Noh drama "Takasago" He is holding a rake. She is holding a broom. " THANKS! I can not ship out of the USA ... Selling things from the: 1800s - 1900s -1920s - 1930s - 1940s - 1950s - 1960s - 1970s - etc., etc., etc ...
