~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ ~~ .This is a wonderful roll of hand-woven Antique European hemp dating from mid 1800's. A rare, and wonderful textile!~ This gorgeous roll of hand-woven hemp has been woven in the mid 1800's and is a wonderful find. This roll of antique homespun measures 19.5 yards long!~ It is very very rare to find such a dark, heavy roll of this fabric in such a length!~ when I found this gorgeous textile, it had been stored for many many years and was in desperate need of a good wash! I have freshly laundered this roll and it came out beautifully! Because this roll was so dark and heavy, washing it produced these beautiful crinkly tonal variations on the surface that will be a permanent part of this stunning fabric! I have taken many photographs to show the character of this beautiful linen ~ This linen was laundered, but not pressed. When it's pressed, the crinkly lines in the linen will be a gorgeous feature!~ This roll would be stunning used for a large upholstery project where a rustic, time-worn look is desired. The linen is an amazingly heavy weight fabric, with beautiful bend and texture!~ The tone is a dark natural tone, also very rare in these beautiful textiles! The weave is a dense , slubby nubby weave. There are a few pale marks on this length that didn't fully wash, however none that would stop me from using it exactly as is! It is a truly amazing textile ~ This textile will be used to create a one of a kind, once in a lifetime masterpiece! The timeless beauty of this linen and their extraordinary quality make these textiles the perfect choice for any home~ and an environmentally friendly choice~*~ ~*~This wonderful fabric has so many uses:~*~Upholstery, bedding, cushions, curtains,clothing, Roman Blinds, bags, ~ so many wonderful sewing projects~*~ ~*~The woman weavers of yesterday would spend their evenings weaving these amazing rolls of linen. It took the average woman 1 night to weave 60 centimeters ( 24 inches) of linen ~*~ These rolls are 100% machine washable, on warm..if there is visible dirt, just add a bit of Oxywash! They are so easy to wash! They can be dried in the tumble dryer! ~*~ Also they can be line dried ~ , simply spin dry then remove when wet. Roll the linen tightly and let sit overnight. In the morning unroll and allow to dry naturally~ this presses the linen and there is usually no need to iron ( unless you prefer it perfect). Pure linen or hemp rolls tend to have no shrinkage, the rolls with cotton tend to have some shrinkage.
