ANTIQUE SWISS LION OF LUCERNE LUZERN 3-D SILVER POCKET KNIFE Up for auction is this very unique stunning Repousse Antique two/twin blade Folding Pocket Knife of the Historical Lion of Lucerne . This knife with it's raised 3-D design captures the full outline of the dying Lion figure with the exposed spear sticking from it's side while guarding with it's mighty paw, the bourbon shield with the Fleurs-De-Lis of France . It has a ring on one end to attach to key chain or belt. Both sides of the knife are equally beautiful with the words: "Helvetiorum Fridei Ac Virtuti" ( "To the Loyalty and Courage of the Swiss." ) DETAILS: Measures Closed : 2 ¼" long Measures with both blades extended: 4 ¼" Large Blade: 1 ½" Small Blade: ¾" EXCELLENT CONDITION! HISTORICAL INFORMATION "The dying Lion of Luzern" is one of the world's most famous monuments. It was hewn out of natural rock in memory of the heroic death of the 700 Swiss mercenaries at the Tuileries in 1792. Carved in deep relief into the sandstone cliff above the town, the monument is an allegorical reference to the bravery of the Swiss Guards who died in the Tuileries of Paris in 1792 trying to save the life and honor of Marie Antoinette.
