Antique German Lowbrow Doll Description: This elegant German china lady is a nice 15" tall- just the size to be the centerpiece of attraction while still being a smaller size, and because of her softly stuffed body, she sits well for a lowbrow doll. Marked "6" on the back of her shoulderplate, she is undoubtedly German, and circa late 1880s. Her body and legs are more recent, likely c1940s or so, and made of muslin, and strung in such a way that she has rather a wide range of movement. She has white kid glove leather arms that taper to a point. She has a well painted head, with a tiny beestung red mouth with an upturned smile line, bright pink blush, pale blue eyes with red and black lid lines and pupils, red nostril dots, and very thin long symmetrical black brows. Some wear to back of her center-part curled lowbrow painted hair, but no chips or cracks to head. She wears a vintage ( a bit large on her, but possibly original to her) set of 1880s whitewear undergarments of a chemise, petticoat and pantaloons in white cotton with embroidery and handtatted lace, with knit white cotton stockings. But her real glory is her corset body! Sewn as a piece with her body, it is of c1940s black lace with naughty red laces- quite, quite shocking for a stuck-up tea-party doll, but just perfect if you're starting a small house of ill repute!
