Magic Keris pusaka Jalak Ngore from Yogyakartawith very nice pamor.This is a very nice and old straight keris from Yoygakarta, Central Jawa. Yoygakarta is situated in the central of Java and is one the most important city for the keris, with the keraton and big history of keris.The dapur (shape) of the keris is Jalak Ngore , this dapor is quite hard to find. Special about this keris is that it has to power to stand as you can see on the pictures. This means that the Keris is totally in balance. It is also said that this means that the Keris is loaded (has "isi"; spiritual content) and has special spiritual power. I will quote a few lines from The Kris, a passion from Indonesia by Jean Greffioz: MAGIC KRISSES The old writings related to the kris include many legends describing their magic powers, imparted by the empu during the fabrication process of the blade. In spite of the quick modernization of the indonesian society, and the strong influence of Islam and Christianity, it is amazing to find out that the âeoepaganâe belief in the kris magic powers is still alive even amongst the most educated classes of the society. The most fearesome magic power from the kris was its ability to kill somebody at a distance, either by pointing the kris towards the victim, or just by striking his footprints. It is interesting to note the similarity with the voodoo practices or those from our witches casting a spell on somebody. Another magic feature of some krisses which was frequently mentioned is the ability to unsheathe, fly into the air for killing the designated victim, and return to its sheath after committing the murder........Other legends narrate magic achievements of a less murderous nature, such as a kris rattling into its sheath to warn the owner of an impending danger (one reliable friend actually witnessed such an event), or a kris holding in a vertical balanced position on its tip. I could check the later performance with several of my krisses (see photo 5), and I had the opportunity to watch two krisses holding in vertical balanced position on the hilt, which requires a perfect balancing but not necessarily any magic influence. The keris has still a very nice visible pamor on the blade that is according to me .(see detailed pictures). This pamor type has protective and positive properties. Off course in real vision the pamor is more nice. This keris is very old, probably made 17th century . The wooden handle is "Nunggak Semi" and and typical from Surakarta. According to me the handle is old and used, but not as old as the Keris itself. This is very common, as the Keris itself is much stronger as the wooden handle. As you can see the handle is matching well with the scabbard and keris. The wooden warangka (scabbard) has a Ladrang (shape of shipp) from Surakarta. The wood is very nice (see the detail pictures) and has a very nice grain.The kerisblade is +/- 27 cm and the total length of the keris in the scabbard is 46,5 cm.
