This is a superb and very unusual example of a Majolica "Pond Lily" Comport, .... dating from circa. 1870. The comport top is decorated with a relief moulding of pond lily leaves and a central lily flower, ... then finished in a rich glaze typical of majolica wares. The comport is supported by 3 legs, each decorated with a relief moulding of a heron. The comport is in excellent condition. T are no cracks or chips. T is a small amount of wear to the central lily pattern which is usual with comports/plates of this design, ... this is minimal and is shown in the photos. Top diameter : 9.4 ins. / 24.0 cms.
