This is a pair of very high quality piteado embroidered Mexican charro chaps dating to about 1920-30. About 37“ long. Note- small hole in one leg as pictured. Piteado (cactus thread embroidery ) is a technique, w pita , thread made from the fiber of maguey, Agave Americana is embroidered onto leather in decorative patterns. The technique is used to make belts, saddles and other leather accessories. Piteado is particularly popular among charros. Belt buckle is missing. Leather is still soft and flexible. A rare item.
