You are about to bid on An Antique Native American Beadwork Done in the Shape of a Boot. The beadwork is in excellent shape with ALL the beads in tact. The front of the boot is a fine wool fabric which is also in great condition. T is some slight scratching on the surface, but not enough to cause any tearing. The back is a heavily polished brown fabric. T is a small tear on the back right on the heel, but not enough for any of the straw to come out or be visible. The several layers of beads in the design give it a puffy look. The designs are in the shape of flowers and leafs with either the middles filled in as different colors. T are loop fringes of beads on the bottom and all are intact. It measures 6 ½ inches from top to bottom and 4 inches from heel to toe. The loop fringes add another 1 ½ inches to the length. The top of the boot is able to open up -- meant to hold a comb/pins/scissors perhaps.Beadwork such as these were made inthe early 1900's by Native Americans (Mohawks, Senecas and Algonquins)for tourists in the Niagara Falls region. They were meant to hang on the wall so that they could hold combs, scissors, pins or whatever you had in your pocket as you entered the room.I inherited a very large Native American Beaded Work collection and I'm just trying to thin it out. The price reflects a $10 packaging fee. Shipping read more
