A lot of levels that I buy are in very poor display condition. I enjoy returning them to respectability in hopes that other collectors might enjoy them. I have restored over 285 levels, and perfected the process as you can see by my feedback. See restoration list below. This auction is for one of the earliest Stratton No. 1 level with the following information. The level measures 24 - inches long by 3 - inches high by 1 & 1/4 âe" inch wide. You can read about the 1872 patent on page 75 of Don Rosebrookâe(tm)s book, âeoeAmerican Levels and Their Makersâe The level is very heavy (3.75 lbs) and dark triple stock Rosewood. The both vials are accurate and appear to be original. (The horizontal vial is VERY sensitive. I had to remove it and make some minor adjustment for it to be accurate.) The Eagle stamp, Stratton logo, and Patent Date are in excellent condition. The only negative is that the ends had a previous owner's initials and in sanding them off, the "No. 1" was removed I would consider this level to be in BETTER than Good++ condition. It is a really nice level but not perfect!!! Please see the other levels that I am also putting up for auction. As with all my level sales, if you are not satisfied, return the level within 14 days and I will refund the bid price. Feel free to e-mail me any questions that the description read more
