ANTIQUE RETABLO ON COPPER, BOLIVIA, OUR LADY OF COPACABAMA. Condition is Used. For auction is a copper retablo of Our Lady of Copacabama. Copacabama is a Bolivian city on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The copper sheet measures 5"x4 1/4". The Madonna is holding the Christ Child, surrounded by angels. The colors are very vivid with very minimal paint loss. My observation is that in Bolivia the word "retablo" is used in a totally different context. Bolivians refer to paintings on metal or simply Santos. Generally, paintings on metal are rare in the Bolivian culture.
