Gorgeous Antique Icon of the Mother of God Of Three Hands ("Troeruchitsa"), 19th Century, gesso, egg tempera, hand painted in old traditional style.Size: 26 x 31 cm (10 1/4" x 12 1/4" inch)Beautiful colors and good condition for its age (including a loss of paint, paint discoloration and paint cracking in some places - refer to pictures). Because of this, he was slandered by the emperor and iconoclast Leo III the Isaurian (717-740), who informed the Damascus caliph that the Monk John was committing treasonous acts against him. The caliph gave orders to cut off the hand of the monk and take it to the marketplace.
