The icon depicts Christ Pantocrator (Ruler of the World). Saints at the left are: The Guardian Angel (The Tutelary Genius, the Watcher). He is the heavenly being assigned to protect each human on earth following their baptism. Angels believed to possess the power to protect, console and heal, especially during difficult times. Saint Euthymius. This saint can be Saint Blessed Euthymius of Suzdal the Miracle Worker (1316 – 1404). His feasts are on April 1 (14) and July 4 (17). Saints at the right are: Saint Sergej of Radonezh (1314 – 1392). Saint Sergei was famous and highly revered for his ascetic life and humility. The Most Holy Mother of God made her appearance to the Saint in August 24 1385. He was canonized in 1452. The feasts are on July 5 (18) and October 8 (21). Saint Maura who suffered for the faith together with her husband Timothy during the time of persecution under the emperor Diocletian (284-305). Their feast is on 3 (17) May. This Old Orthodox icon was painted at the end of the 19 or the first years of the 20 century with egg tempera on a wooden panel covered with levkas (gesso, special priming). The icon is covered with the original chased metal (brass or tin or soft iron) oklad (riza, metal cover). The icon wasn’t restored recently. I don’t see any traces of restorations but t is always a possibility of old read more
