Beautiful Sessions Mantle clock. Black enamel finish. Very nice engraving on front of base. Hard to see in photo. The celluloid face has some cracks and a small stain at the 7 o'clock position. Clock keeps good time. Circular chime rings on the 1/4 and 1/2 hour and chimes the hour. The face is flanked by an elaborate brass plaque with 3 angels, one facing forward and one on each side looking at the center angel. Two columns extend down from t with an "aladin" style lamp in the center on a pedestal. On each side of the clock is a lion's head with a ring in it's mouth. You can see the highly figured brass feet in the photo. I did some minor touch up on the case but chose to leave the patina on the brass pieces. I'll leave it to the buyer to repaint if you wish, my personal preference is that the age adds character so I choose not to refurbish. Clock will ship with the pendulum weight and a key, key is not original but I'll look through my box and see if I can fine one that looks appropriate. If you are not familiar with this type of clock please be advised that while it is keeping good time it may need minor adjustment and/or balancing after shipping. It is an 80+ year old mechanical movement. Back is on it and it still has the ID card stapled to the bottom of the case. Email with any questions and good bidding! |
