My sister saw how you loved my thimble in fruit cases last month and she wants me to offer the ones she has also, so it's your lucky day! These thimbles are really nice and the cases are just adorable! A cute set , one of several I am listing in this fashion: an antique silver Dorcas thimble, circa C*1885, enclosed in a beautiful green Granny Apple shaped thimble case / holder made of porcelain. The thimble is bright and shiny, with no holes or dents or needling, and it is ever so slightly out of round. Very nice distinctive Dorcas tooled freestyle pinwheel pattern around its middle, with a double line around the base. A nice rim with "PAT." "8" stamped on it indicating this thimble's finger size. Wearing around the base and top of the thimble, indicating it was well used and well loved. Thimble is a smidgen over 7/8" tall an a wonderful old piece of sewing history! The Thimble holder is a wonderful piece: a green Granny Apple Shaped thimble holder made from fine porcelain. The apple fits together by a brass hinge in the back, and has brass fittings rimming both the top and bottom edges of the opening as shown. The entire apple measures approx. 1 3/4" tall when together. No cracks, scratches, or any damage at all on this apple thimble case: it was very well taken care of.
