As part of Catholic religious tradition, solid silver Milagro (Ex Voto) were often offered to a saint as a reminder of a petitioner's particular need, or in gratitude for prayers answered, (Please see the Statue below with a Milagro). After several weeks or months, the Milagro was removed from the church Alter or statue, and stored; most were eventually sold as scrap-silver, melted down, and recycled. It was a source of income for the church. The Milagro you a bidding on was made before 1830, when silver and labor was less costly than today. These are part of a convents antique collection, that for many years had been stored and forgotten; they are on consignment for auction. It is ENTIRELY hand fashioned from thick silver, according to the instructions given to the silversmith by the petitioner. It weighs 35 grams of acid tested SOLID SILVER (not platted), and its size is 4"X2.25". The Milagro was left anonymously, so its symbolism or design elements are inspired by what the petitioner may have asked for and received. No two from this period are alike, so bid high if you want them; once it is gone, t will not be another like it. Good luck bidding! Sellers: Get your own map today. Click now. Simple."
