This silver image representing a child, is an antique" ex voto ", from Naples surroundings. It may be a thanksgiving for the miraculous healing of a child; The bandolier aross the chest means that the child was more than three years old. The ex voto, were hung in the churches, or next to the image of the holy virgin, or a saint, to ask or to thank for a received grace (miracolo), like healing from an infermity, or having a desired baby. This custom dates from ancient Roman and Greater Grece devotion to the gods . These icons are still today manufactured according to tradition. H. 6.1/4 inches.
