It is etched and engraved, stamped with the maker's mark and English Sterling,Dimensions of this handsome dish are 5 1/2 inches in height to the top of the finial and 5-3/4 inches in diameter. Silver scholars claim that Ball, Black & Co. was the leading jewelry house in the nation until it was overtaken by Tiffany & Co. The Prince of Wales placed orders for jewelry and silverware worth $12,000 during his visit to the store in October 1860. Reputedly, chests of silver and jewelry belonging to Southern families survived the ravages of the Civil War inside Ball, Black & Co.'s vault, the first modern safe deposit vault system in the country. estimated value is over $1000 usd,and could be actually closer to $2000 but i do not know enough to know for sure, good luck and happy bidding on this no reserve auction..!!!!!!!
