Antique Silver Plated Brass Brazilian Decorative Ornate Commemorative Military Horse StirrupsOne set of 2They look like Silver plated over brass or nickel silver (an alloy made from copper, zinc, nickel & possibly some tin)In good condition; has some wear and discoloration from use and ageSome of the silver has worn off, possibly from rubbing against the saddle or the rider might have worn chapsThey are marked "USTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL, 15 DE NOVEMBRO, DE 1889" on each side underneath a 5 point starA bit of history on these stirrups:On November 15, 1889, a military coup established a republican government commonly called the "Old Republic"and the country was named the "United States of Brazil" which lasted until 1930I have seen a similar stirrup like these with the star, but not with the lettering on it.The fancy decorative portion on the bottom of each stirrup is 2 1/2 high, 6 1/2 wide by 1 1/4"One stirrup is 6 1/8'' high with inside dimensions - 2 7/8" high by 3 5/8" wide by 1"Weight - 11.5 oz.The other one is 6'' high with inside dimensions - 2 5/8" high by3 1/2" wide by 7/8"Weight - 13 oz.Weight of both together - 1 lb. 8.5 oz.All measurements and weights are approximateCheck out my other items !Feedback: If for some reason, you are not totally satisfied with your purchase after receiving it, please email us BEFORE leaving neutral read more
