AntiqueStaffordshire Fountain Scenery Red Transferware Plate
I tem Description: Up for auction is a stunning antique red transfer decorated plate manufactured in Staffordshire, England during the early 1800s. The plate is in the Fountain Scenery pattern which features a large floral water fountain in the foreground and a row boat and large buildings surrounded by a natural landscape in the background. The border displays various floral and scroll designs, and the back is marked with the Fountain Scenery trademark in red. The plate has a scalloped edge and it measures approximately 8 1/8" in diameter.
Item Condition: The overall condition of the plate is excellent. It is extremely clean and has no chips, cracks, or broken areas. The white earthenware is still very bright and the red color is bold with nice contrast. The glaze is glossy with no crazing and I see standar utensil marks on its surface. There is minimal rubbing to the rim, and no glaze loss that I see. Please be sure to check out my other auctions for more great items!
