Kemeny & Donald Miller: "In their construction, metal sheet was etched to produce a decorative design, covering the marbled Favrile glass, which was flat, curved, or blown into a confining metal structure, suggesting miniature leaded windows. Acid etching thru the thin metal sheets created filigrees. The grapvine motif is composed of leaves, boughs, tendrils and grapes. The Pine Needle motif incorporates primarily straight lines suggesting needle clusters coming from many points or multiple cobwebs."
