This Chatelaine was worn by Victorian woman. A chatelaine is a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain is mounted with useful household appendages such as scissors, thimbles, watches, keys, vinaigrette, and household seals.I don't know much about this piece other than it was found in a box of vintage jewelry. The hook goes inside the waist and the rest is meant to hang down. Some of the tiny stones are missing.Measures about 8.25" when stretched out completely. With the piece that goes inside the waist down, it measures 6".
