up for consideration is fine Antique 1880's Victorian Game Trophy Painting Titled "Striped Silver Bass". The painting excluding the frame 15 wide by 29 inches with overall dimensions of 21 by 35 inches in height. The painting represents a sort Trompe L'oiel painting. Usually it was a sign of wealth when game was brought home and tied to the wall in the kitchen near the sink. This was a different time where there were commercial hunters and fisherman when one wanted meat. Not like today where animal husbandry fish farms etc are abound. You often see fish as such along with woodcock ducks etc as more or less a French, English European tradition. I believe this is American however. The canvas stretcher keys are American and the dimensions are spot off in inches. The stretcher keys in the back which are American and date 1886.
