This is a beautiful old half seat loop back saddle, with the high back Cheyenne roll, and A frame. I have not found a Maker's Mark, but it is the early type used by Menea, Frazier, Gallatin, Collins etc. All made there own variety of this saddle I am selling this saddle for display or restoration only.....it has flaws. The leather is quite supple, but there is surface cracking in many areas, especially the stirrup leathers, which I would certainly replace before ever using. The horn and tree are solid. The fenders are there and have flowers displayed on them, the A frame is gorgeous, with a multiflowered design evenly over the entire area. The back skirts show some deep cracks, and there is a tear in one, possibly a smaller one on the other, I can't really see the inside where a concho has been attached. All of the old conchos seem to be there, although they exhibit quite a bit of rust. All of the leather ones appear to be present and good. There is a hole, about 3/8ths of an inch, on the front skirt, lays under the jockey. Something must have attached there, it is the same on both sides. The saddle must have been a showpiece in its time, the designs are beautiful on the straps and both pomel and cantle. It really would be a lovely display as is, or a stunning restoration piece.
