This appears to be a military compass shaped like a pocket watch. The outer pop-up cover is stamped U.S. and the dial says Wittnauer. I am not an expert in Military memorabilia, but I would think this is World War II. In trying to identify it I think it is the 1940's and was survival gear issed by the U.S. Military. The case is probably nickel. It is in good working order, and the needle spins freely. It is 1 3/4" in diameter and I do not see any scratches on the glass face. The case snaps shut tightly and is in very good condition. I see one little indentation mark on the back, otherwise just normal "old look" for something that is about my age! And don't you love the old shoestring that it has been attached to for years? I try to describe items as accurately as possible and disclose any damage or imperfections that I see but I am not an expert so please review the photos carefully and email me with any questions or comments you might have. I prefer shipping by Priority Mail and add a .50 handling fee to cover Delivery Confirmation. I accept PayPal, cashiers checks or money orders, and personal checks (with a 7 day waiting period for it to clear the bank before shipping.) I will only ship in the U.S.
