This antique seated figure is from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria . Seated figures convey prestige .It is wonderfully carved from one piece of wood . The remnants of colourful paint can be seen through the layers of adorned libations . A bona fide tribally-used artifact, it is in good condition considering the years it has been around. Slight old damage to one foot and erosion in chair leg. Height 8 inches or 20 cm.
