APPLICATION FOR CONFEDERATE CROSS OF HONOR 8 1/2 x 11, imprinted form, filled out in ink. Nov. 7th, 1901. To the United Daughters of the Confederacy: The undersigned, residing at Chocowinity, who is an Ex-Confederate Soldier, but not a member of any Camp, hereby makes application for a Confederate Cross of Honor. Applicant entered the service of the Confederate States on about the 1st day of March 1861, as a private of the 31st Regiment of North Carolina Volunteers, C.S.A., and was at that time a resident of Chocowinity. Your applicant was honorably discharged from said service by parole at Swift Creek, Craven Co., N.C., by Col. Jno. N. Whitford, on the 20th day of April 1865, at which time he held the rank of private. Respectfully, Harvey Giles Hill. X his mark. W.H. Call witness. We endorse the above application, W.H.
