Fantastic antique Art Deco Elephant bookends made of electroplated bronze. These figural bookends are not marked but were no doubt made by one of America's leading art metal manufacturers back in the 1920's such as Pompeian, Armor or Marion Bronze that specialized in bronze clad electroplating. The bottoms are covered in purple felt, but peel it back and you'll see the hole in the middle that contains the metal wire used in the electroplating process. Each bookend is identical, portraying an Elephant climbing a rocky plateau. The simplified Art Deco design is strong especially when the Elephants stand head to head. Each measures 6" tall by 6" long by 3" wide, and weighs 3.5 lbs. apiece.Whether you collect antique figural bookends or need that special piece for your Art Deco decor, these bookends are for you.
