This auction is for a beautiful pair of Art Deco era diamond earrings. The octogon shaped earring face has two types of enamel...a opaque basse taille white enamel rim, and a cobalt blue guilloche enamel field that has been fired over an embossed "woven" pattern. A single round, rose cut diamond is bezel set in the middle of the dark blue enamel....giving the earring a eye catching twinkle. These two diamonds measure approximately 2.0mm or .025ct each, .05ct total weight. They have a very good quality of G-H color and VS2 clarity. The vintage style ear wires are 14k solid yellow gold. These earrings, as with so many from the last year, started life circa 1925 as a pair of cufflinks. They were a lucky find at a local antique shop. We love finding beautiful neglected things and giving them new life...especially the enamels! They are so beautiful with their saturated, intense colors...and SO labor intensive. You don't see much new jewelry with genuine glass enamel because it is so time consuming to make. That makes the vintage pieces we find and transition that much more special....no one is making jewelry like this anymore! The cufflinks were made in copper and then gold plated....we added the solid 14k ear wires using a laser welder.
