SIGNED by Schlesinger. 1 Page letter on White House Stationary with envelope. Washington. December 30, 1963. (6-1/4 x 9-1/4 inches) Addressed to: "Mr. William L. Blue, The American Embassy, Lisbon Portugal..." Sent "VIA POUCH-UNCLASSIFIED." The Letter Reads "Dear Bill: I appreciate your letter more than I can easily say. The loss is grievous for us all--for his friends, for America, for the world. I know that his courage and purpose will sustain us for the rest of our lives. My own plans remain uncertain. I told President Johnson that I shall stay on for the time being; but in due course I think I had better return to my own work. I do have much in mind the possibility of a book on President Kennedy. Please give Joan my best regards. I hope to see you both before too long. Sincerely Yours..." Great historical piece as it is referencing the book that he did indeed write soon after.
