ASP Model 250 Aluminum Hinge Handcuffs email: ASP is famous for providing quality police equipment. This auction is for a pair of ASP model 250 Aluminum hinge handcuffs, new in the package with one key. These are the older, collectable, "Patents Pending" version with Model 250 marked on the bow, unlike the currently available sets. Every once in a while a product really jumps out at us as being unique and very interesting. The more we handled these the more we liked them. The first thing we noticed was the weight, at only 8.5 ounces they seem more like toys than police equipment, much lighter than most steel hinge handcuffs. Of course the first thing anyone does when they pick up a pair of cuffs is swing the bow through. The action is more smooth and effortless than some sets we have seen with years of being "broken in". The finish is an amazing combination of jet black aluminum and ordnance grade textured polymer. Operation of this fine restraint is w ASP design experience is most evident. Unhindered by legacy products ASP's entry into the handcuff market brought real common sense features in an NIJ certified package. Double locking is almost reinvented with this feature rich cuff. A yellow indicator tells the double lock status at a glance. The double lock can be applied in the traditional fashion by sliding the pin end of the key in the lock case slot. A real innovation is the ability to set the double lock with the key in the key hole. A 90 degree turn towards the double lock sets it. Turning the key 270 degrees unlocks both the double and single lock, no need to turn the key one way and then the other. The value of this really comes to light as the cuffs are adjusted for the best fit. With the key in the lock they can be loosened or tightened, when the desired snugness is achieved a quick twist sets the double lock ensuring the cuffs can't be shimmed open or get tighter. These cuffs have a key hole on both sides of the lock case. No need to worry about which side is up. Easy to lock or unlock, quicker to apply, easier to adjust and as strong as any on the market. Widely used by police for dangerous subjects.
