1 Ounce Lunar Rabbit Lunar Series is based on the Chinese 12-year lunar calendar, which dates back to 2600 BC. Each year is named after an animal, and, in turn, each animal sign is governed by five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Each element appears with each animal only once every 60 years. Australia issued its first Lunar-Zodiac coins in 1996, "The Year of the Rat," and issues new coins each year in Brilliant Uncirculated quality.
