THIS IS AS GORGEOUS AS IT GETS FROM MEISSEN: AN AUTHENTIC COFFEE SERVICE FOR 6, COMPLETE WITH 6 COFFEE CUPS AND SAUCERS PLUS TWO EXTRA CUPS, CREAMER, SUGAR BOWL WITH LID AND LIDDED COFFEE POT WITH SWAN HEAD AS SPOUT. This is an authentic Meissen coffee s ervice for 6 (with 2 extra cups), complete with creamer, sugar bowl with lid and lidded coffee pot with swan head as spout. In my opinion, it gets no more beautiful than the gold on cobalt blue with the incredible, hand-painted flowers. While some of the pieces have cancellation marks through the crossed swords (described more fully below), this set overall is in wonderful condition. T is little visible wear on the gold. If you've been watching eBay within the past few days, you will have seen another similar set to this recently listed. The difference is that set has the thick, raised gilt and my set does not. I've photographed the crossed swords on every piece in this auction and described below which are first quality, and have set a most reasonable reserve. This coffee service will look fabulous on your table for a special occasion or as the crown jewel in your china cabinet. These are heirloom quality pieces that will be admired, exclaimed over, handed down and wished-upon-a-star by every girl (young or not) who has the opportunity to see them. More detailed information: The hand-painted colors on these pieces are vivid and include orange, cornflower blue, teal, purple, goldenrod, raspberry, sapphire blue, light yellow, rose and a lovely leaf green. Coffee Pot with Swan Spout and Lid : Measures approximately 9" from the swan's mouth to the handle, and the height is 9.5". T are cancellation marks in the crossed swords, indicating this is not a first quality piece. I suspect this is due to a bit of discoloration in the porcelain which in no way detracts from the beauty of the piece. The gold is in very good condition and t's no damage or repair that I can detect. Sugar Bowl with Lid : Measures approximately 7" from handle-to-handle, and the height is 5". I do not see or feel any cancellation marks on on this piece. When the lid is removed, t is a bit of discoloration to the porcelain on the lip of the sugar bowl, but this is not visible when the lid is on. Creamer : Measures approximately 5.75" from lip to handle, with a height of 5.25" at its tallest point. T are cancellation marks through the crossed swords which indicate this is not a first quality piece. I cannot tell you why. It's simply darling, with the whitest of porcelain and lovely gold and flowers. Coffee Cups (8) : Each cup measures 3.75" across the rim of the cup (not including the additional 1/2" allowance for the handle) and stands 3" tall. Tell the truth, I'm not sure how I wound up with 8 cups and only 6 saucers, but I did. Five of the cups have cancellation marks through the crossed swords, primarily for some discoloration in the porcelain. Three of the cups do not have cancellation marks; they are the three in the front row of the group photo of the marks. Saucers (6) : Each saucer measures approximately 6 3/8" wide x 1" tall. Three of the saucers have no cancellation marks through the crossed swords and three have been cancelled. One of the saucers has a small chip on the reverse. You can see this in the very last photo (the saucer in question is in the right-hand-side group, top left plate, and the chip is at about 11:00). These six pieces have a little gold wear ... primarily in the center of the saucer w a cup would typically scrape a bit when set into place. The saucers are my most favorite of all the pieces, because the gold, cobalt blue, white porcelain and flowers all fan out from the center like a frozen kalaidescope of color. So t you have it. Described as best as I'm able. Pictures really don't do justice to this incredible Meissen set. To see it all in person is to realize why the Meissen fa...
