Up for auction today is a great old bird stone made from porphyry. The birdstone is in good condition with no breaks. The holes are cane drilled from both sides and the holes are not damaged. The bird has a wonderful patina and the eyes are pop eyes and a nice fantail. The bird measures 3” long by 1 3/8” wide. The paper label that was with this says, “FOUND ON RED BANK ROAD CINCINNATI OHIO MAY 1978 BY DR. RAWLINGS”. I will send the provenance with the bird stone. I know it takes time to have artifacts authenticated, and this artifact is guaranteed authentic for life. If you have any questions, please e-mail me.
