For your consideration is an AUTHENTIC and WONDERFUL dated 1834 Oval Shaker Box in Maple and New England White Pine. Not easy to find the original authentic Shaker boxes on the market. I purchased this from a dealer I have bought from for almost 20 years in Aurora OR. From a local collection of Americana. The box has very finely detailed finger laps typical of the NY and New England communities. I believe this box is either Sabbath Day Lake ME or Canterbury NH based on similar examples. Fine exacting work and proportions you would expect from an authentic Shaker box. This box was never painted and has varnish finish, the varnish finish is old on this box may or may not be original. Use of small copper tacks for the seams and to attach the top and bottom. The seams virtually dissapear the chamfering is so fine on the laps when viewed from the side which is another sign of authenticity. You will love this box! I am starting with very low starting bid and if not enough watchers or bidders by the 6th day will end the auction to protect the investment in lieu of reserves. size : 11" long 4.5' high 8.5" wide Materials: Sides Maple top and bottom White Pine tacks are copper Date: Dated 1834 Condition: -Excellent excellent condition only flaw is slight break on bottom right side where bottom is attached to side.
