This is an authentic fire bucket from Warren R.I. I have had this for about 15 years. It has damage as is visible in the photos. I got this from the house from which it originally was used from. I believe it dates to the 1850's though it could be earlier. It has an "M" on it for the family it belonged to. The Merchants. It is 11" high. Top is 9" in diameter. It is rigid from age. When I originally retrieved it, there was sand in the bottom. It appeared it had been in the same spot for quite a long time. Currently the bottom is stuffed with newspaper to help maintain it's shape. The bottom section of the bucket is damaged. The very bottom is intact. One of the handle loops has come undone. Excellent patina. Original paint. Most of the "M" is intact. Paint is darker than in the photo. This is a very important piece of history. The fire brigades were a significant part of our early American culture. Though damaged and not in the best condition, I can 100% guarantee it's provenance. Many buckets are in museums or private collections. Seldom are these buckets available on the open market and certainly not starting at this low price. Please view the photos carefully before bidding. It is as recovered, I have not attempted to restore it. It will be an excellent addition to your collection. Buyer pays shipping and handling.
