I recently acquired my first TOPS knives and I must say that I'm beyond thoroughly impressed with these fantastic knives. Now I know why many folks, whose lives could depend on their knife, swear by these knives. TOPS knives are very popular among military, law enforcement, hardcore outdoorsmen, and expedition personnel. They are often requested by troops in active war zones and I've read nothing but praise on their design, performance, and durability. These knives are highly regarded among the Spec Ops crowd. Because TOPS knives are made by hand, they're made in small batches of each particular model and certain models can sometimes be very difficult to find. Each TOPS knife is individually serial numbered. This example is K-193 and the certificate matches the knife. The first ten photos are stock photos. The last two are of this actual knife. It is still sealed in its factory packaging and I didn't want to remove it. This is my last example of this great knife. This is the Scalpel with the linen Micarta handle. This Micarta is not smooth and slick like most linen Micartas. It textured and offers one of the best slip-resistant grips that I've felt. This knife is a whole lotta knife packed in a small package. It's is a little beast of a knife with its 1/4" thick blade! Talk about a lot packed into a small package! I don't know that I've felt a more solid knife in my hand. And one of my most pleasant surprises with this piece...just because it's a brute, doesn't mean it has to look like one. It's just an awesome looking, awesome feeling, awesome performing knife. The knife offers excellent balance and a rock-solid, indestructible feel. The blade is ground from 1/4" 1095 stock and treated to RC-58. The blade is texture powder coated and from what I've read, the coating is virtually indestructible. I believe it's a TOPS patented process and they call the finish traction coating". The blade is zone tempered and cryo treated. TOPS blades are actually tempered into three zones. The spine has thumb ridges milled on the top for extra grip and leverage and t's also a milled hump for the index finger underneath. This allows for surgical-like blade control, which I suppose is how they came up with the name. The handles are exceptionally well done and are really set of by white liners. The handles are tightly secured with hex screws. The knife has never been used, carried, or sharpened and is in perfect, mint condition. It comes with its certificate of authenticity. The blade is 5" and the knife measures 9-3/4" overall. It also comes with its original Kydex sheath. The knife is snugly held by the sheath. The sheath features a heavy-duty steel spring clip that can be oriented to horizontal, vertical, or any combination tof. T's a thick rubber bushing that holds the clip in position. An exceptional tactical knife that would also excel afield!! Shipping note: Though I've nearly recovered from a long-term hand injury (finally!!), I'm still behind on my shipping.
