Bane Lords - Vilthiss Champion of Khthon “Generals, commanders and war-leaders are the true lords of these lands for, whilst they may seem to be mere extensions of their rulers’ authority, deluded puppets given illusions of might and scraps of wealth to keep them in line, they -with the armies and warbands they command - have the power at their hands to destroy their enemies, put whole populations to the sword, defend their people from tyrants. These are the BaneLords, chieftains and captains, ravagers and defenders, pirates and heroes...” The Khthones, once simply called thesklávoi, have taken advantage of theAtalantians’ hubris to riseagainst their former masters and break the chains of their slavery. Led by the implacable Gorgon known as Ophius, and counting among their number the Gorgonar, Krokodar and Sávrar – as well as other mighty beasts of Khthon – the ferocious savagery of the Khthones is only matched by their hunger for the downfall of Atalantia and its people. Their motivation is purely that of vengeance; whilst they will defend their crumbling lands against the raids of the Fomorians and the Ysians, as they have done in the past for their former masters, only the death of the Atalantian race – or, at the very least, their return to the stars – will satisfy the rage of the Khthones. Svrill has wielded the power of Khthon through all of his long life for, once transformed, his inchoate mind could do little else; his masters, sometimes callous, sometimes malevolent, mostly indifferent, cared little for such talent, for their attentions were upon the very future of Atalantia and by extension their race. Yet Svrill, forced into a life of slaughter and pain like all of his kin, still developed the skills to use the incredible power within the earth regardless, for once awoken, it could not be forsaken, and if the Gorgonars were ever to free themselves from the shackles of slavery he knew he would have a part to play. Svrill's strength matured to incredible proportions during his slavery and when it became apparent to the Atalantes - who, more than any other humans, understand the power of the earth - they realised their mistake and hated him for it, for many believe that he has accelerated the decline of their lands. Whether he can indeed wield such power remains to be seen, but all know that with Svrill by his side Ophius will destroy accursed Atalantia, one way or another. Pack contains one gorgonar.
