Main Product Description: This is a extremely rare BRKT knife. Only TWO of these were produced. One is located in the UK, this one has remained in the US and now is on offer for a collector of BRKT knives. It has mammoth ivory (bark/crackle) handles with red liners and mosaic pins. It is also one of the original 300 models of the North Stars that was produced with a tapered tang (all future production runs had a full tang). The Handle material was supplied by us and the owner of BRKT (Mike Stewart) produced the knife himself due to the delicate nature of the project. The knife will come with also with a protective fleece lined collectors case and the original sheath style.Below is the everyday description for the BRKT North Star model:The North Star was the first knife for the Bushcraft Series made by Bark River Knife & Tool (BRKT), over a year went into the R&D of the knife itself. Using A-2 Tool Steel that is .170 inches thick it was a instant success. Weighing in at just 4.7 ounces (for the micarta models with hollow pins, bit lighter/heavier for other handle materials). It's perfect for a weekend camping trip.The blade is 4.25 inches long with a total length of 8.5 inches. The knife has notches located on the top of the spine and at the front underside which aid in gripping. Unlike many other mass produced knives the North Star (and all other BRKT models) has a Convex grind. This grind is becoming a lost art as it must be put on the blade by hand, this ensures a shaving sharp edge. If you don't know what a convex edge is, then remember how your grandfather used a razor and leather strap..that's a convex edge. The RC is a 59-60, ideal for a outdoor knife. Any harder and you would have trouble sharpening it in the field and have problems with chipping and possible breaking. Any softer and you risk reduced edge holding time, meaning more sharpening and less time enjoying your knife. The handles are also hand finished, so you will always see some slight variance from knife to knife. The Sheath is both stiched and riveted to give extra strength and ensure long life. Like other BRKT sheaths it allows for smaller knives to be piggy backed to it giving you a ultimate combo of blades for your task.
